The beautiful island Hidra, close to Flekkefjord in southern Norway, is also referred to as the Diamond of the Southern coast. Hidra is a living community with about 500 inhabitants.

There are nice hiking possibilities both on the island and at sea. Of sights can be mentioned the unique coastal Museum "Fedrenes Minne", remains of German air defence positions and the Gallery "Omland". The island has two grocery stores, two gift shops, restaurant "Kongshamn", campsite and a distinctive guest house - "Skipperhuset". Fishing is possible both from the land and boat.

There is a ferry connection to the Mainland every half hour during the day and every hour in the evenings and on weekends. The crossing takes just under 10 minutes.
